CrossFit Regina’s - Spring Fling

Wednesday, May 5th, 2010

Hey gang,

We hosted last years fall Sask Crossfit challenge and now it is time for the Spring version in Regina.  Everyone needs to take a look at their calendars and get ready to go for the CFR Spring Fling.  This is a great opportunity to challenge your fitness and skill in a full day, three event competition at CrossFit Regina.

Lets go CrossFit Saskatoon! - start talking to friends and fellow CrossiFtters and lets be sure to support our neighbors as they definitely supported us last year.  These competitions only work when the group is large and when the group is motivated.  There are 3 skill levels of competition which will allow anyone and everyone to compete (beginner to advanced athlete) - so no excuses gang.  If last year is means anything - all those that competed had a blast and weer happy they did it.

One of the most enjoyable things about CrossFit is the community aspect in which it brings and breeds - lets continue this theme in taking a large group of individuals to Regina.  You will not find a more supportive or inspirational competition than a CrossFit competition - people are beautiful, strong, motivated, welcoming, competitive (in a good way), and enjoyable to be with.  What else do you need?

Lets do it guys - lets get a group to represent our club and support the CrossFit competitions within Saskatchewan.

Go to CFR’s website and sign-up NOW.  Don’t think about it just do it.  You will be with others you know and there will be coaches there to help push you along and keep you on task - all you have to do is show up ready to go (By the way you are already ready to go - so don’t use that excuse either).

Kick it.

More airdyne fun!

Hills vs. Hucul in the airdyne showdown.

The dust flew and words were tossed around until the group was forced to get between these two …. it was decided that there was only one true way to settle this battle- the 1 minute airdyne death sprint.

Loonies for Lacey

Loonies for Lacey

A Fundraiser for Multiple Sclerosis Research

We will be having a special ‘wod with a deeper purpose’ this Saturday (April 17th) to help out Lacey Andrews (a crossfit coach from a neighboring gym) who has been battling MS for a while. Lacey has a team called the ‘moo-shoo warriors’ in the MS walk  and they are raising funds for the cause.  We have been asked to help out in this fund raising adventure, so on Saturday we will be completing a workout from CrossFit Brios blog called Loonies for Lacey.

As you all know here at CFS we push for a strong community development with in the club as well as out side of the club, so we think it only fitting to reach out and help in such a situation.  We hope everyone gets this and attends one of the workouts on Saturday and brings big pockets full of loonies as well……why?  The workout we will complete is as follows;

200 push-ups for time

- Each rep goes from top to top. Every time you need to take a break, throw $1 in the bucket, do 20 air squats, then continue.

Remember that this workout is for a good cause so we hope that you all will attend and participate - see you all Saturday.  If you can not come out on Saturday adn would liek to donate your loonies fel free to drop tehm off at the gym throughout the week.

Thanks

CFS

Grass Hill Foods

Thursday, November 5th, 2009

Hi gang,

I would like everyone to take a look at this super cool website set up by David Larsen (CFS athlete) and his brother Wayne Larsen (CFR athlete).  As many of you probably know I have mentioned some of the benefits of grass fed meat in the past and have tried to get my hands on some as well, but it is not the easiest thing to do because there are very few places in the province that raises such a product.

Dave and Wayne have done us all a great service in providing a website that will allow consumers to easily purchase grass fed meats here in Saskatoon.  The process is simple and effective.

Grass Hill Foods will provide grass fed beef and elk (current supply), to consumers to allow the highest quality of meat at an affordable cost.  No longer will you have to settle for grain fed cuts of meat from the super market as we now have a simple method of acquiring it here in the city.

I think this is a great idea and I also think we should support it fully, as the quality of the meat is much higher and much better for your overall health.  Support what you believe is right and help grow Grass Hill Meats.

The following is a little more info on the adventure and I will let Dave put it in his own words;

Hi guys,

Grass Hill Foods is now live!!  Our website is operational and we are taking orders.  We currently have an inventory of grass-fed  beef and elk for sale in Saskatoon and Regina. These animals are 100% grass-fed and finished, hormone and anti-biotic free.

The website is www.grasshillfoods.ca .  The site is currently fully functional with an ongoing inventory adjustment to ensure you get the product you order. You can view the different cuts available and place your order directly on the website.  Your order can be viewed before it’s sent, and once sent it will notify us and we will contact you to arrange delivery or pick-up. Price per kg are given and an estimation of the cost of your order can be viewed as you check-out.  Cost estimations are based on average package sizes.  The actual cost may go up or down based on the actual weight of the packages received.

As it develops, we will add more features and services. We are continually adding links and developing information on topics related to grass-fed meat.  We will be posting information on how to cook the meat, recipes to get the most out of your grass-fed meat, the health benefits of grass-fed meat, and information on the production of grass fed and the meat industry in general, to name but a few.   We also have a blog set up on the site to post ongoing information about grass-fed-related news and events.  People are invited to leave comments and participate in the discussion.

We encourge you to have a look, read up on grass-fed meat and pass the link on to whomever you feel may be interested.  Thanks for your interest in Grass Hill Foods.

David

Thanks a bunch Dave and Wayne - this is a great idea.
